WE DANCED FOR THE DUNES

The Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance extends a
huge “Thank you!” to all of the people who joined in
on June 19th at Fenn Valley Winery to make our very
first fundraising party such a great success. The
perfect weather, outstanding food and drink,
fabulous dance music and the support of so many
community members combined to create a truly
memorable evening.

Special thanks go to Mark Schrock and Jive at Five,
caterer par excellence Chris Ferris who delighted
everyone with a range of delectable hors d’oeuvres,
Doug and Lynn Welsch of Fenn Valley Winery, and
the crew of superb volunteers who planned and
executed this grand event.

We also want to thank the many generous donors
who gave items for our silent auction: Turning Point
Realty, Sherwood Forest Bed & Breakfast, J. Win
Jewelry, Journeyman Café, Crane's Pie Pantry,
Otavalito, the David Swan Family, Camp Tosebo,
Rosemont Inn, Kirk’s Traveling Kitchen, Open Door
Music and Books, Nancy Plantinga, Nature’s Market,
Dawn Schumann, Suzanne Dixon, LandSharks,
Christine Ferris Catering and Marcia Perry’s Ark
Gallery.

Coming together to “Dance for the Dunes” is just
one more of the million reasons why we all love
living in this very special place. By gathering
together we can assure a future for the glorious
green and open spaces, family-run businesses, rural
culture and historical treasures that stretch
between South Haven and Holland and east to
Fennville. Proceeds of this event all support the
Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance mission to
preserve and protect the natural, cultural and
historic character of this unique region.

Thank you, Friends, for getting us off to a grand start!
SAUGATUCK DUNES COASTAL ALLIANCE: BANDING
TOGETHER TO PROTECT WHAT WE LOVE
The Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance was out in force for
Saugatuck's Independence Day Parade. Our float featured
the Old Lighthouse (a reference to the property owners
currently being sued for access across their land to build a
road by Aubrey McClendon/Saugatuck LLC) and dozens of
supporters young and old who distributed organic candy
donated by Nature's Market and brochures about our
mission. The crowd's response was terrific to this show of
community support for protecting and preserving the natural,
cultural and historical treasures of the Saugatuck Dunes
Coastal Region.
