Petition Summary And Background
 Saugatuck Township implemented R-4 zoning in
support of the 2005 Tri-Community Comprehensive
Plan and the 30 year effort to protect and preserve
land at the mouth of the Kalamazoo River.  This action
is being challenged by a party that acquired some of
the land affected after the change had already
occurred.  This party has threatened the Township
and its officials with multiple lawsuits if they do not
agree to reverse their zoning decision.
Action Sought
 We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge
our elected and appointed officials in Saugatuck
Township to act now to uphold R-4 zoning (no more
than 1 home every 5 acres) and all other laws,
ordinances, and regulations that will protect and
preserve the area bordering the Kalamazoo River
between Oval Beach and the Saugatuck Dunes State
Park and reject any Cooperation Agreement or
Settlement Agreement that undermine the Township’s
ability to do so.
