To date, Coastal Alliance supporters have sent more than 115 letters to elected officials in Douglas, Saugatuck, and Saugatuck Township – which represents more than half of those who attended our town hall on September 27. Thank you! Your advocacy is working!

Coastal Alliance Position on Holland Board of Public Works (BPW) Proposition to Authorize Sale of 4036 Hillside Trail in Laketown Township

After receiving questions at the September 27 Town Hall, the Coastal Alliance board of directors discussed the Proposition to Authorize Sale of 4036 Hillside Trail, 24 acres immediately adjacent to the northern boundary of Saugatuck Dunes State Park, in Laketown Township, which will appear on the Holland ballot on November 8. The Board has issued the following statement:

Since 2007, the Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance has focused on protecting and preserving the Kalamazoo River Mouth area, especially the Saugatuck Dunes and adjacent areas. Our Board of Directors strongly believes that the guiding principle and decision criteria for the future of the property at 4036 Hillside Trail in Laketown Township should be conservation, protection, and preservation.

The stakes are high for the November 8 election. The Coastal Alliance encourages every adult to register to vote, vote, and support candidates who are committed to protecting and preserving our environment. The deadline for Michigan voter registration is October 24. You can learn more at Vote411.org, which is sponsored by the League of Women Voters Education Fund, a nonpartisan organization.
