Thank You for Attending our Town Hall
To the more than 100 people who attended last night’s Town Hall – THANK YOU!
For those of you who couldn’t attend, here’s what you missed!
A huge thank you to the more than 100 people who turned up at our town hall last night! It was great to see and talk with you – what an energizing and passionate group we are!
The primary focus was asking you to do things:
Attend the Virtual Public Hearing that EGLE will host via Zoom at 6:00 on Monday, July 10. You can register here. And if you forget to register, no worries – you can use the link the join the meeting on the 10th. EGLE will allow time for public comment and it’s important that all of us speak up. EGLE will begin the meeting with a Q&A. They will likely allot up to 2-3 minutes for each person to talk during the comment period. See #2 below for tips on what to say.
Submit a written Public Comment to EGLE no later than Thursday, July 20. We provided tips for writing an effective comment at the town hall. Here’s an overview that walks you through what to say as well as instructions for submitting the comment. You can make these same points at the Public Hearing on Monday.
This community has stopped destructive development proposals in the past – and we can do it again. Attend EGLE’s public hearing on July 10 and submit a written public comment by July 20. Tell EGLE that the proposed marina violates the public trust. Tell EGLE that the proposed marina violates Michigan’s Inland Lakes & Streams Act and Critical Dunes Act. And mobilize your friends, family, and allies to do the same!
